When Dad was in his prime, he was a man who often juggled multiple projects – always open to new ideas. One of those ideas was being part of designing a watch as a tribute to his time with the Maple Leafs. The design was that of a classic men’s wristwatch, meant to capture his spirit and the years he spent with the club he loved and remained loyal to – and that remained loyal to him.
But fate had other plans, and time waits for no one. Dad was able to start the project but never had the chance to see it through. Instead, we (his children) together with the friend he began the project with, have taken the final steps to make the watch a reality. The design and details stay true to his vision: featuring the CN Tower, the King logo on the crown, his player number, and the ties to the sport he loved and the city he came to call home.
We know Dad would have worn his watch with pride. And we are sure he would have been almost childishly happy to see it on others’ wrists, thinking: I made that.
